Diploma

The participating universities guarantee the award of a recognised joint degree (a joint degree is defined as a single diploma issued by at least two of the institutions offering an integrated study programme). This is the case in Belgium and in Italy.

In Belgium the degree is officially recognized by the law of 13 February 2004 that was signed by Minister Marleen Vanderpoorten. The relevant governmental law regarding the recognition can be consulted completely at following website: www.ond.vlaanderen.be/edulex/database/document/document.asp?docid=13520 (pdf, p. 63837).

In Italy the programme has been officially recognized as a 'Master di secondo livello' (DM 509/99) on 22 May 2005 by the University Committee for the DM 509 Master Courses and on 16 June 2005 by the Academic Senate of the University of Padova.

At this moment the KU Leuven and the University of Padova will confer a Joint Degree Diploma, signed by both rectors. If some Dutch legal constraints have been lifted, the rector of the Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen will also sign the diploma, and it will be a Joint Degree Diploma conferred by the three European universities involved in the programme. If this is not possible the Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen will confer his own degree, signed by the responsible representative of the university.
