Erasmus Mundus Master of Bioethics

General information

Health care professionals and others professionally interested in medical ethics find themselves increasingly confronted with moral questions and dilemmas. Such complex issues challenge the people who have to deal with them every day. For the first time several European universities and institutes have combined their efforts in the field of bioethics by developing a master's programme that focuses on all issues currently relevant to bioethics. An introduction.

Teaching staff

Teaching is offered by staff members of the participating universities and institutes. The programme is coordinated by the steering committee of the programme.

The Master of Bioethics consists of 60 ECTS credits. All the courses and educational activities are offered in the three participating universities through a specific mobility scheme for the students.

Education

The courses consist of a series of lectures, allowing ample time for questions and discussions. Sessions will be devoted to small in-depth discussion groups on real-life cases and relevant contemporary issues. The programme is participating in internal and external quality assurance systems.

Intensive courses

Next to the full time programme, the Erasmus Mundus Master of Bioethics also offers Intensive Courses in Leuven, Nijmegen and Padova. These intensive courses are open for everybody. Since the intensive courses are part of the Erasmus Mundus Master of Bioethics programme participants of the intensive courses will join Master students from all over the world.

Lecture Series on Bioethics

The three universities jointly organise a Lecture Series on Bioethics (Leuven 3 ECTS, Nijmegen and Padova each 1.5 ECTS) that cover a whole range of actual and controversial issues in the field of bioethics and various experts are invited to talk.
