Language therapy and audiology sciences
Bachelor of Science
As a student of language therapy and audiology sciences you will first of all gain the scientific competencies and skills which are at the base of language therapy and audiology. This so-called 'groundwork' (basic science) is shaped courses of physics, linguistics, psychology, pedagogy, biomedical sciences and statistics. Concerning statistics a more advanced knowledge is achieved. This broad 'groundwork' is directly linked to a thorough study of the normal verbal communication: productive (voice, speech, language) as well as receptive (hearing).
Together they form the basis of the third aspect: the study of language therapy and audiology pathology (the disorders, diagnosis and treatment). During the Bachelor's programme the focus is distinctly put on forming a wide base in order to be able to link the more specialised and complex problems in the Master's programme.

Master of Science
Taking the master of science programme in language therapy and audiology sciences leads to a degree in which you can get a license as speech/language therapist by the RIZIV.
During the master's programme scientific insights and knowledge are deepened and all skills inherent to a language therapist/audiologist are practiced. The course consists of a thorough study of pathology, diagnosis and therapy of speech and hearing disorders. In addition to several common course units, students choose from a number of subareas of language therapy (option language therapy) or audiology (option audiology). Furthermore, two course units are chosen from the unelected options or from a list of optional courses. Finally the Master's programme also entails an internship and a Master's thesis in the form of a paper.
