Cardiac Imaging Research

Welcome to the Homepage of the Cardiac Imaging Research Group of the K.U.Leuven.

Our research group is active in the field of cardiac imaging and our philosophy is to explore this field from basic physics up to clinical applications.

Currently, our main research topic is ultrasound based cardiac deformation imaging. We have already organized several high level scientific symposia on this topic. We organise a yearly symposium on Myocardial Velocity and deformation Imaging at University Hospital Gasthuisberg.

We are also involved in the organization of a postgraduate course on Cardiac Imaging, intended as a high level introduction for beginning researchers in this field. This leads to the degree of Master of Medical Imaging.

SPEQLE: Software Package for Echocardiographic Quantification LEuven.
An integrated approach for ultrasound-based cardiac deformation quantification
.

SPEQLE is a software package developed at the university of Leuven (Leuven, Belgium) for the post-processing of Myocardial Velocity Imaging (MVI) data sets.
It gives an integrated offline approach to ultrasound based cardiac deformation imaging by providing tools for data managing, anatomical region tracking, cardiac event timing, data visualization and statistics.

The package is open source and freely available for research purposes.

To receive information on obtaining SPEQLE or on SPEQLE training sessions, please contact us.
